A new episode of Around the Desk -- the podcast published by Decision Desk HQ -- takes a close look at Election Night 2020. As a part of the race call team, I was featured in the podcast to discuss the turnout predictions that I helped develop for DDHQ. The model that I steered uses demographic changes, historical elections, and other politically relevant features to predict what turnout would look like at the county-level for the 2020 general election. These turnout estimates are used to provide our race call team an important perspective in figuring out "how many votes remain" in a given race. Feel free to listen to the podcast for more details and to hear how the estimates performed.
