Welcome! I’m Alexander Podkul, a Data Science Fellow with 0ptimus Analytics. I am also an adjunct professor with Georgetown University. Previously, I worked as part of The Primaries Project at The Brookings Institution.
My academic research focuses on elections, especially congressional primaries. Generally speaking, my work uses quantitative methodological approaches to answer questions on voter behavior and political ideology. My doctoral dissertation studied the varying ideological representativeness of primary voters across constituencies using large-scale surveys and voter file data. Some of my research on congressional primaries has been covered by CNN, National Review, Politico, and The Atlantic.
Feel free to explore this website to learn more about my research and other work experiences. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more.
